Learning Objectives of Optional Sessions

Workshops

Workshop includes live demonstration of selected procedures with relevant theory covered in 6 hours by eminent faculty who are authorities in their respective field. It is followed by Question and Answer sessions.

Workshop A – Microneedling, Platelet rich plasma therapy, Body Contouring, Skin tightening and lifts

1. Microneedling

Learning objectives:

  • The participants will be understanding various technologies, clinical applications, limitations and possible side effects from dermaroller, dermastamp, dermapen and disc rollers
  • Live demonstrations with above devices for various indications like acne scars, Chicken pox scar, stretch marks and wrinkles are some of the highlights
  • Emerging therapies of microneedling like drug delivery systems and Platelet Rich Plasma(PRP) will also be demonstrated

2. Body and facial Contouring

Learning objectives:

  • The participants will be sensitized on an approach for non-invasive body and facial Contouring
  • They will be able to know and understand techniques and technologies and newer devices for appropriate and successful body and face contouring with their relative strengths and weaknesses
  • It includes live demonstration of radiofrequency skin tightening from unipolar, bipolar to multipolar and multiphase Radio Frequency (RF) like devices
  • Live demonstration of Microneedle Radio Frequency (RF) lift (insulated vs. non insulted needles) for facial contouring

3. Platelet Rich Plasma(PRP) therapy

Learning objectives:

  • The participants will be able to learn and competently understand the procedural technique of Platelet Rich Plasma(PRP) preparation and delivering techniques
  • They will be demonstrated different methods, different Platelet Rich Plasma(PRP) components like Platelet Rich Fibrin Matrix (PRFM), conventional vs. commercial kit Platelet Rich Plasma(PRP) preparation etc
  • Demonstration of injection techniques for Androgenetic Alopecia (AGA), Acne scars, Vampires lift and Alopecia areata are the highlights

Workshop B – Injectables (Fillers and Botulinum toxin)

Learning objectives:

  • The workshop delegates will be learning structural and functional anatomic features and with respect to aging, that are key to safe and optimal injection of fillers and neurotoxins
  • Injections will be performed by masters on different anatomical areas and there will be more interactive learning
  • They will be able to do complete assessment, recognize danger areas, to decide on optimal treatment and select appropriate agents and improvise the injection strategies
    They will be demonstrated to identify potential complications, prevention and management strategies
  • Demonstration of basic and advanced cosmetic indications of botulinum toxin. (Treatment of the forehead, glabella, brow, lower eyelid, bunny lines, marionette lines, nasolabial folds, cheeks, gummy smile, upper and lower lip, chin, neckline, and décolletage)
  • Demonstration includes Botulinum toxin for hyperhidrosis and facial shaping(Masseter hypertrophy)
  • Live demonstration on upper, lower and full face Volumization injection techniques and strategies will be discussed by experts

Workshop C : Lasers and Lights

Learning objectives:

  • The sessions are directed towards sharing regional and international expertise in lasers in the field of Dermatology
  • Delegates will understand and learn the present treatment modalities, indications and new innovative techniques and technologies as well as technical protocols and settings for safe and effective laser therapy, and essential clinical tips to ensure the best aesthetic results
  • Laser treatment setup and practical safety issues will also be covered
  • Review current and new types of Vascular, Resurfacing both ablative and non ablative and Pigmentary lasers will be show cased
  • At the conclusion of session delegate will be able to select the appropriate therapy for condition and avoid complications and manage them as they arise

Workshop D: Dyspigmentation (Chemical peels, lasers and dermoscopy)

Learning Objectives: The delegates are going to get the most up to date knowledge about established and evolving technologies for the treatment of Dyspigmentation which includes Hyper, Hypo and depigmentation. The format includes live lectures, demonstrations and discussions by experts.

1. Chemical peels: The delegates will understand current knowledge of superficial, medium and deeper peels, focusing on different formulation suitable for skin types. The proper technique will be demonstrated, step by step by masters for each indication. The masters will share the pearls and tips for good results and to prevent and manage complications.

2. Lasers: The participants will achieve great understanding of the principles behind lasers and light devices in tackling dyspigmentation, also learn about most recent studies, techniques and treatment guidelines. The topics covered are use of Long pulse lasers, Q-Switched lasers, Fractional lasers, Vascular lasers and combination lasers for Hyperpigmentation (Melasma, Nevi, freckles, PIH, Toning ,Poikiloderma, LPP, Toxic melanosis and Tattoo). Picosecond laser for pigmentation and Excimer laser for Vitiligo and Hypopigmentation are also the highlights of workshop

3. Dermoscopy: The delegates will get an opportunity to update their knowledge in dermoscopy a noninvasive diagnostic tool. They will have live demonstration of dermatoscopic patterns of pigmented skin lesions and lesional analysis from experts. The experts would share their knowledge helping the delegates to decipher and decode the mystery of network patterns on same thus the delegates will sharpen their acumen in diagnosing a pigmentary condition alleviating the necessity for an invasive procedure many a times.

Workshop participants will be able to identify gaps in their understanding and performance based on teaching and presentations. The knowledge gained will bridge those gaps reduce complications and improve clinical outcomes leading to better patient care.

Courses

Participants will be taught via videos and lectures about each of the surgeries in detail during a 6 hour course. Each topic will be subdivided and the course will be delivered by a group of experts in that field. The entire session will deal with each and every aspect of the topics and comprise of question and answer session in the end. Each course will have CME credits from Karnataka medical council.

Acne Scars:

  • From anatomy and classification of the different types of acne scars, to which is the best treatment for each type of scar will be focused on, in this course.
  • A detailed discussion on each of the treatment modalities, starting from basics like subsicion and punch excision to the current resurfacing techniques and dermarollers/dermapens will be covered, including the economics and practical aspects of each.
  • Most recent treatment options, such as PRP, fillers , fat transfer will be discussed
  • Lasers and other energy based devices will be simplified with multiple video presentations of the procedure and its modifications.

Master classes

Each master class will be for 90 min. 2 or 3 experts in the field of respective topic will speak for about 20 min and this will be followed by an extensive question and answer interactive session.
The learning objectives are as follows

1. Facial anatomy

  • This session will focus on the anatomy of the face, particularly the muscles, facial nerves, facial vasculature and fat pads.
  • The participants will understand the anatomy of facial muscles and wrinkle lines with respect to botulinum toxin injections and filler injections.
  • The facial zones or cosmetic units, and anatomy of aging will be discussed

2. Cosmeceuticals

    • During this session, the current “status” of cosmeceuticals will be discussed. Speakers will share their experience in the use of these products for various indications like antiaging, acne, hairloss.
    • Delegates will achieve a greater understanding regarding the mechanisms of action of topical cosmeceutical ingredients, effectiveness of ingredient, and penetration through the stratum corneum.
    • Knowledge on the emerging trends like nanotechnology in cosmeceuticals will be updated.

3. My most difficult cases
In this course eminent faculty will discuss few of their challenging cases and its outcome. The delegates can interact with experts about the difficult cases they have faced.

4. Controversial treatments

      • This session is directed towards controversial therapeutic modalities like stem cells, threads, and mesotherapy. Physicians with expertise in these modalities will share their knowledge. They will discuss the science behind these controversial therapies, the indications, the effectiveness and side effects.
      • Evidence or the lack of it for these treatments including the safety will be looked into.

5. Scar management

      • This session will cover all the aspects of scar management including methods to reduce scar formation ie scar prophylaxis. Delegates will be updated on the various parameters of scar assessment.
      • Non surgical modalities including topical agents, camouflage, silicone sheets, pressure dressings, intralesional injections and surgical interventions.

6. Hidradenitis suppurativa

      • First line therapy for hidradenitis suppurativa
      • Antibiotics
      • Long term therapies for controlled remission

7. Periorbital rejuvenation

      • Common complaints in periorbital area – dark circles, crow’s feet, eyelid bags, dry skin, thin skin, and just “looking tired” will be addressed

8. Complications of aesthetic procedures
This course will be a detailed discussion on the common complications which arise from commonly performed cosmetic procedures, best ways to avoid them and deal with them.

9. Aesthetic treatments for skin diseases

      • Importance of aesthetic resolution of the lesions after the primary disease process has resolved eg in psoriasis, persistent erythema post acne, vitiligo, lichen planus
