Abstracts received after the submission deadline dates will not be considered.

WCOCD introduces young investigator award, to recognize, encourage and award Young dermatologists. It gives an opportunity for young dermatologists to present their work in basic and advanced cosmetic dermatology, lasers and dermatosurgery- be it in investigation, invention of a disease/physiological process/technique/device. It aims at acknowledging research contributions by young dermatologists in the field of dermatology.

Criteria for submission:

  • The age limit for submission is less than 35 years as on the first day of conference, i.e. 4 th may 2017. Proof of age will be necessary for chosen applications.
  • Applicant must hold recognized degree in dermatology. Proof of qualification is necessary for chosen applications.
  • The submissions can be novel techniques, unique approaches in specific subject, innovative use of existing instrument/technology and research which establishes new insight into pathogenesis and treatment / diagnostics /practice of dermatosurgery/surgical techniques/ anesthesia, aesthetic procedures, LASERS, surgery/other categories
  • The innovation should be a original idea/invention/discovery
  • Twenty abstracts would be shortlisted, of which ten would be chosen for presentation in the congress.
  • It can include :

    A publication in a peer reviewed journal. It can include an article which has been submitted for publication/approved. It can include an unpublished but completed research.

    For shortlisted abstracts, a full text article would be necessary for final selection. If it is a device, a video of how device works will be requested.

  • It should be accompanied by a disclaimer that it is an original invention of the author/authors.
  • The scientific jury WCOCD, will select 10 papers, out of which three best papers will be awarded with Best young investigator award.
  • The chosen ten will be provided free registration and accommodation and will be required to present their paper in the Congress.
  • The three winners will get a cash award of USD 500, 400, 300 respectively.
  • Please don't submit the same abstract in multiple categories. If the abstract is not selected for award paper, it will be considered for free paper or e poster.
  • Last date for submission: 15th December 2016.

Assessment:

A jury will be constituted who will assess the paper with respect to the below fields

a) Originality of the idea

b) Methodology

c) Analysis of results

d) Utility( Relevance)

e) Thoroughness of discussion

1. There is no age restriction
2. The paper can be in any field of cosmetic dermatology, LASERS and dermatosurgery
3. For oral presentation, it should be an original study- case report/short studies won’t be accepted for oral presentations

You need to submit your paper in the oral presentation category only, there is no separate submission needed.

To be awarded for the best Case Report submitted by a physician in training (resident, fellow, or registrar) for presentation at the 12th World Congress of the International Academy of Cosmetic Dermatology in Bengaluru, India, May 4-6, 2017.

We invite you to submit original Case Reports that reflect the presentation of new ideas and original observations to the Academy membership and other attendees of the Congress. The case may be medical, surgical, or cosmetic (or combined) in nature.

The author, whose abstract receives the highest score during the review process, will be awarded a scholarship by the IACD to present the full paper at the 12th World Congress of the International Academy of Cosmetic Dermatology in Bengaluru, India, May 4-6, 2017. The scholarship will provide reasonable travel expenses, lodging for 3 nights, the Congress registration fee, and a basic spending stipend.

Abstracts should be submitted via email to vrosic@medicine.bsd.uchicago.edu before noon, CDT,  January 10, 2017, and should be no longer than 2,500 characters including spacing. Material that was previously presented, published, or submitted for publication should not be offered. Applications will be graded based upon the educational value of the abstract and the extent to which it presents new and significant work.  The Review Committee strongly recommends that abstracts have an organized, coherent, well-thought-out, and complete presentation.  Please note that no paper submitted for consideration will be eligible if it has already been or is in consideration for publication elsewhere at any time prior to the meeting. The winner(s) agree to publish their outstanding case report(s) in SKINmed: Dermatology for the Clinician, an official publication of the International Academy of Cosmetic Dermatology.  By submitting your paper for consideration, you give SKINmed: Dermatology for the Clinician first-rights of refusal for publication through December 31st, 2017.  The applicant must be in training at the time of the Congress presentation.

All applicants will receive e-mail notice of the Resident Case Report Review Committee’s decision by February 5, 2017.

An international essay competition would be held to encourage thoughtful discourse on important topics.

Rules for the essay:

  • The contest is open to any dermatologist who is willing to attend the Congress.
  • He/She can choose any one of the below five topics.
  • Essays should be in English and no longer than 2000 words.
  • The last date for submission will be 1st December 2016.
  • Top two entries in each category will be invited to the Congress with a scholarship of free registration and accommodation.
  • They will need to make a presentation on the basis of their essay at the Congress.
  • There will be one prize for each topic. The winner will be awarded a grant of 500 dollars.
  • Any essay found to be plagiarized will be automatically disqualified.

All societies are encouraged to send a team for this event. You may send one team with two participants for this quiz. The participants should be residents in dermatology or post residency fellowship students . The subject of the quiz would be cosmetic dermatology, dermatosurgery and Lasers. The method of choosing such participants is left to the society. The team selected by the society should be informed to scientific@wcocdbengaluru.com .The team members will be paid free registration and accommodation by the organizing committee. However, travel costs will have to be provided either by respective society or borne by the candidates. They will have to participate in a preliminary quiz to be held on 4th May 2017, day 1 of the congress along with other national teams. The preliminary quiz will be a written quiz of multiple choice questions. Final four teams (of which one will be from India) will participate in the finals to be held on 6th May 2017, final day of the congress. The Precise details of the final quiz , which will be an oral quiz conducted as a plenary session, will be announced later.
